Endodontic Dental Treatment (Root Canal Treatment) - Estetik Dental Group

Endodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the pulp tissue or pulp cavity, which is the vascular nerve package that protects and nourishes the tooth. Surgical endodontics is a straightforward surgical technique used when root canal therapy is insufficient or inappropriate.

Endodontic root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) is necessary if infection occurs in the pulp tissue due to caries or injury. There is no pain in the initial stages of infection. In some cases, your tooth may darken, which means that the tooth’s nerves have lost their vitality. Such conditions require root canal treatment.

Also, when a typical root canal is ineffective, an apicoectomy is required. You may need an apicoectomy if you still experience pain and edema following a root canal. Months or years after a conventional root canal, a tooth may develop an infection or pain.

Why Would You Need Root Canal Treatment?

The infection in the root canal is removed during root canal therapy. After that, the canal is completely cleaned and filled with special materials to stop further infections.

If the pulp tissue is infective, the infection may spread to the tooth’s root canal system. This may cause an inflammatory formation (abscess) at the root tip. An abscess is a swelling of the tooth’s root canal tissue caused by the accumulation of pus. Symptoms of an abscess range from a dull ache to severe pain, and there may be tooth sensitivity during chewing. If there is inflammation or infection in your tooth’s pulp tissue or pulp cavity, root canal treatment should be applied to your tooth. If root canal treatment is not performed on time, the infection will spread more and the tooth may need to be extracted.

At the same time, you may need root canal treatment in the following cases;

  • If the tooth decay has gotten worse,
  • If a fall, impact, or other force damaged your tooth,
  • If your tooth is broken or cracked,
  • If you have advanced gum disease as a result of untreated gum disease, you might need root canal therapy.

What Are The Symptoms And Signs?

From the symptoms listed below, you should be able to determine if you need a root canal:

  • If your teeth feel heavy and sensitive when you consume hot, cold, or sweet food,
  • If your toothache begins at night and you have no other symptoms,
  • If you experience tingling or pain in your teeth while eating, consult your dentist.
  • If your tooth’s color has changed, your dentist should intervene immediately. Your tooth cannot heal itself once it has reached this stage, so your dentist must act quickly.

Stages of Root Canal Treatment in Turkey

Root canal treatments in Turkey are performed by highly skilled people. Since they’ve performed countless root canals, they can perform this procedure with ease. A root canal can be finished in one day. To evaluate the damage, the dentist will take an x-ray of the infected tooth. The procedure will soon follow. Since you will be unconscious throughout, there won’t be any discomfort.

After Root Canal Treatment

Your dentist and his staff will explain the root canal treatment if you’re considering or going through it. Your mouth and gums will be perfectly normal in one or two weeks after surgery, except for the absence of infection-related pain and swelling.

After your root canal treatment, there are a few things you may do to speed up and ease your recovery:

Avoid eating right away

Do not immediately consume food following your operation.

You can help reduce the swelling by sleeping with your head raised during the first few nights

Utilize over-the-counter analgesics

Your dentist may advise using Ibuprofen, an anti-inflammatory pain reliever marketed under the trade name Advil.

Use warm, salty water to gargle

Warm salt water gargling will keep your mouth healthy and stop any infection from spreading to the gums around your impacted tooth.

Cold packs and ice cream

After your root canal operation, eating ice cream and applying cold compresses will reduce swelling.

Take a break

Sports, physical activity, running, or hiking should be avoided for the first two days following a root canal operation. Instead, take time to unwind and stay away from strenuous exercise as you heal.

Be prepared for sensitivity

In the first week or two following a root canal operation, some sensitivity to heat, cold, and discomfort while biting is typical. You’ll be tempted to use your tongue to feel around the treated region.
